Previous solutions for building-integrated photovoltaic most often are based on traditional technologies and manufacturing methods. In consequence, the adaptation of specific designer, architect or customer wishes to conceptions and requirements is limited. The market only offers modules with a uniform and homogenous coloring or semi-transparent surfaces, which mostly are realized by attached films or additional coats.
Until now, advanced solutions that combine photovoltaic with design elements, which fulfill the criteria of customized PV, are not known.
The concept of “efficient design” has faced up to the challenge of promoting the connection of photovoltaic, architecture and design in the sector of building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV). Therefore, the central focus is on the almost free color design as well as on the integration of shapes, logos, writings and other design elements.
